Black Magic Roses » Learn About Black Magic Rose Care
Throughout the passing of time, different kinds of roses have been developed. All of these types are beautiful and elegant (all roses are). However, there is one type of rose which is noted for its rich, vivid color and exceptional uniqueness and elegance: the black magic rose .
Black magic roses, although the name says it, are not really black in color. Their name comes from the fact that their color is a deep red or burgundy; making it look almost black especially at the edges of the petals. They may look black under some lights and deep red in others. No matter what their color appears like, they are still exceptionally beautiful because of their boldness and vivid hue.
For those who want to grow one in their gardens, black magic rose care should be carefully followed. In growing black magic roses in a garden, one should remember the following helpful tips and reminders.
(1) Make sure that the climate in your area is warm, with at least a zone climate of 6. Roses in general do not thrive well in colder temperatures, and having them grow out of warmer temperatures would make them grow to their fullest blooms. Plant them in a location where sunlight could hit them during the day.
(2) Find an area in your garden where the soil drains well. It needs to be in a soil where water will drain down all the way to its roots. Add at least 2 inches of compost on top of it, then you can start working on it. Compost adds essential nutrients which a newly planted rose bush would need.
(3) Dig a hole through the soil according to the size of the container for the bush. Dig at least 4 inches larger, following the shape of the container.
(4) Take the black rose bush from the nursery container. Hold it by the stem then turn the pot upside down. Place the bush on the hold that you just dug, and work the soil around it until you are sure that the soil is already compact.
(5) Water the plant regularly to keep it moist. However, make sure that you do not overdo it since they have this tendency to develop molds when left standing on a puddle of water.
(6) Fertilize your black magic rose bush early in spring and midsummer. Use a fertilizer specially formulated for roses.
(7) If you spot leaves with brown spots, clip these off. If it becomes prevalent, spray the rose bush with a gardening fungicide.
(8) Trim the bush regularly during winter months.
