Tricep dips are a great exercise to help increase strength and muscle mass in the back of the upper arm and the pecs. You can perform them using a chair. You can do this exercise every day even if you only have a few minutes.

Start seated on the chair and clasp your hands on the edge of the chair. Have your legs bent with your heels pressed into the floor and toes in the air. Lift your bottom off the chair and bring your hips forward. Bend your elbows and lower your bottom towards the floor. When your elbows are at 90 degrees use the chest and triceps to lift your body back to the start position. Perform this exercise for 3 sets of 10 repetitions with a little breather in between each set. To make this exercise harder keep your legs straight throughout the exercise.



The exercise is called a glute or shoulder bridge and it is great for strengthening and more importantly toning up your bum and the back of your thighs. You perform a glute bridge by doing the following. Lying on your back on the floor, bend up both knees, keeping both feet flat to the floor. Push through both heels and squeeze your bum muscles as you roll up your back to rest at the level of your shoulder blades. (No higher than shoulder blades as you do not want to rest your weight on your neck). Hold up for 20 to 30 seconds then roll slowly back down to the starting position. Repeat three times.


To make sure you are doing it correctly draw in your tummy muscles to make sure you aren’t arching too much through your lower back, make sure your knee caps are looking forward to get the best glute (bum) activation. Tips to get the most out of the exercise: push through your heels to activate glutes more. Do not push through your arms while holding the position, you should feel the work in your buttocks and the back of your thighs.

To make it harder lift one exercise is to keep your core in tight. Pull the belly button into the spine and squeeze the bum. The core almost wraps around your spin and holds it in place. Bad core is one of the main causes of back pain. So if you suffer from back pain make sure you are protected. Remember exercise should be fun so make sure you do this with a smile.



Starting with your feet shoulder width apart, bend the knees into a squat position. As you perform the action simultaneously “pump” the arms forward whilst pushing the chest back.
