Baylor Medical Center at Irving will host an Irving Cardiac Challenge at 3 p.m. Thursday in celebration of the opening of its revamped Heart and Vascular Wellness Center .
Competing will be three-member teams from the Irving Police Department, Irving Fire Department and MacArthur High School. Each team has to run on a treadmill for ten minutes in a relay competition for 30 minutes. The team with the furthest distance will be the winner.
Baylor's updated Heart and Vascular Wellness Center houses the hospital's cardiac rehabilitation program, pulmonary rehab program and anticoagulation clinic. The changes include more space, natural light, four treadmills, six exercise bikes, an indoor rubberized track and other amenities to help those recovering from heart-related issues.
