Oklahoma County program aids juvenile offenders with re-entry
Old former gang member back in jail.Instead, he called Rogers, a rehabilitative specialist for Youth and Family Services of Oklahoma County . Rogers drove more than an hour to see Sam, and they hashed out the problem on a basketball court.
“I know he deals with anger issues, and he's getting past that, but I felt I needed to be there for him,” Rogers said.
The two got to know each other after Sam — who asked that his real name be withheld for fear of retaliation in the gang community — was released from a three- year stint in juvenile detention for shooting another person. As part of his rehabilitation program, he enrolled in the Juvenile Re-entry of Oklahoma County (JROC) program offered through the Youth and Family Services organization.
Sam was one of six JROC graduates honored at a recent luncheon for their achievements. In their past lives, the young men in the program were drug dealers, thieves, gang members and worse, said Debbie Forshee , CEO for Youth and Family Services.

Firsthand knowledge
Rogers said out on the streets, teenagers such as Sam don't have any rules. He said most die or end up in prison by age 20.
The former University of Oklahoma football player — who went on to play in the NFL — knows firsthand what a troubled kid can do to a family.
Rogers watched his brother being hauled away in the back of a police car when he was young.
“Doing this has been healing for me, too,” Rogers said. “I was too young to do anything about my brother, but maybe I can help these kids turn their lives in a different direction.”
Sam said even his mother has doubts that he's changed.
“It's hard for her, because I was really bad, and most of her brothers have been in prison,” Sam said. “I haven't really had anybody before now to show me there is a different life out there if I want it bad enough.”
Sam is in culinary school now with only three semesters left until he graduates. His dream is to one day own a franchise that offers delicious pastries, catering and different types of cuisine.
“Jail helped me discover myself,” Sam said. “I want to be an entrepreneur. I want to help kids like me.

Oklahoma City Used Car
It is common practice amongst many motorists to regularly maintain their cars in a clean and roadworthy condition. They also bring their car in for service every 3,000 miles to make the oil changed and check out all the filters and fluid levels. There are others who are so committed to their cars that their goal is to keep them in showroom condition even down to the upholstery and carpets. Probably the wheel trims and sidewalls are kept sparkling, but what about the tire pressures? In this article we are going to discuss the value of maintaining proper tire pressure.
Tire pressure problems arise from two main reasons: too much pressure in the tire or too little pressure in your tire. Yet another thing you want to do is to examine the owners manual on the car to discover the right tire pressure. Please note that the pressure you will see stamped on the inner rim of the tire only means the maximum inflation pressure and will be considerably greater than the correct driving tire pressures. So be sure to check your users manual to see exactly what amount of pressure your tires should have.
Oklahoma City Used Car Tire SettingsPlacing too much pressure on your tires decreases the amount of tire tread that is touching the road surface. Because your car has less contact and traction with the road surface, it will be less responsive to steering wheel inputs. This will become most noticeable in wet circumstances or on snow and ice when the likelihood of an accident are greatly increased. Driving a car on over inflated tires risks severe injury and even a reduced speed impact, just into a shallow ditch for instance, can lead to a surprisingly large recovery and repair bill nowadays.
A tire with pressure below the correct level has a tendency to spread outward so your sidewall starts to come into contact with the ground. In case you have too little air pressure the tire will run on the sidewalls, and the side walls are not intended to be getting contact with the road. At this point you can drastically reduce the life of your tires and will even cause blow outs while your driving. This in turn could transform into a tow bill.
In addition to the safety aspect, maintaining your tires at the correct pressure can enhance the miles per gallon performance of your car. As mentioned previously, lower pressure tires put a bigger area of rubber onto the asphalt and it makes your engine work harder to push against the increased resistance. The result is that you start using a lot more gasoline per mile travelled. Be preserving your tires inflated effectively you can find yourself saving up to 10% off your gas costs.
